TONSTURM SpinTracer is a spatial Doppler plugin that operates in real time, projecting incoming stereo audio through as many as sixteen sound orbs. Each orb is powered by a physics engine that computes the accurate Doppler shift based on the orb’s calculated velocity in relation to a stationary listener position, rather than relying on a pitch-bend approximation. Mouse or automation-driven motion control enables an operator to execute spatial movements in real-time, setting it apart from offline, path-based design tools. Reflections from the floor and binaural panning, taken from Tonsturm’s DopplerPro engine, provide height and spatial depth signals that surpass a simple stereo pan sweep.
